Why clients choose us

A build you don't have to chase, question or police

You deal with the owner, not a call centre

Adam quotes the work, runs the site and answers the phone. There is no account manager relaying messages and no site foreman making decisions you never approved.

Honest numbers, explained before you commit

Every price is an estimate with a contingency built in and openly discussed, because material costs move and older Devon properties hide surprises. You are told what might change and why, up front.

Certified specialists where it matters

Part-P registered electricians, gas-registered engineers and an established structural engineer are brought in for the work that legally requires them, coordinated by us, not left to you.

Guaranteed after we leave

A 12-month no-quibble workmanship guarantee, plus a 10-year structural warranty and a 12-month snagging process on new builds.

Meet Adam Harrison

Royal Marine discipline, applied to building work

Adam started a bricklaying apprenticeship at sixteen and joined the military at nineteen. The habits the Marines drilled into him (turn up, plan properly, finish what you start) are the same habits that now run every site.

After being discharged he bought a digger, went back into the trade, and set up on his own in 2020. Since then the business has grown steadily into a close-knit team of five. Adam is a qualified bricklayer by trade with roughly twenty years standing, and has built his own house from the ground up, with a little help from a carpenter.

He is on the tools and project-manages every job personally, from the first estimate to the final item on the snagging list.

What North Devon homeowners say about the finished job

Google reviews
We have been very pleased with the overall quality of the work done to renovate an C18th cottage, putting in a modern bathroom and kitchen without losing the sense of the historical character. The team were cheerful and polite at all times; their skill levels were high, particularly carpentry, plastering, electrics, decoration. They were impressive problem solvers and although we wanted the work completed sooner than it was (so star rating 4.5) we did recognise there were unforeseen challenges. Costs seemed par for the course and were well explained.

    Before you enquire

Straight answers to the usual questions

If your question isn't here, ring Adam directly; you'll get the same straight answer on the phone.

How do you price a job?

Every price is given as an estimate rather than a fixed figure, because material costs move and older properties hide surprises. A contingency is built in and explained up front. Your initial estimate is free; producing a full, itemised quote carries a fee, which is refunded in full if you go ahead with the work.

How and when do I pay?

Payment is arranged to suit the size and length of the job and agreed before work starts. On longer projects that usually means staged invoices, for example bi-weekly with seven days to pay. Bank transfer is preferred, and card payment is also accepted.

Are you insured, and is the work guaranteed?

Yes. We carry £5 million public liability and £10 million employers' liability cover. All work comes with a 12-month no-quibble workmanship guarantee: if something isn't right, we put it right. After the 12 months we still look at it, carrying out a small investigation to establish the cause and the best way forward. New builds also come with a 10-year structural warranty through a warranty provider and a 12-month snagging process.

Can you handle plans, planning and building control?

Most clients come to us with plans already drawn. If you don't have any, we can introduce you to the architect who drew up Adam's own house. On notifiable work such as extensions and new builds, we can run the building control application through a private building control company for a fee, or you can apply directly to your council; we'll advise which suits your job.

    Do you use subcontractors?

Only where certification is required. We bring in Part-P registered electricians and gas-registered plumbing engineers, plus an established structural engineer for structural work. Adam project-manages the whole job from first estimate to final snag, so you deal with one person throughout.

    Do you work with developers?

No. We work with private clients only, which keeps the workload on a small number of jobs at a time and the standard where it should be.

    Which areas do you cover?

We work across North Devon and the surrounding towns and villages, including Great Torrington, Bideford, Barnstaple, Holsworthy, Hatherleigh, Winkleigh, Braunton, Langtree, Shebbear, Buckland Brewer, Northam and Westward Ho! and Appledore.
